UL923 Child-Resistant Door Lock Information
As of April 1 2024, all countertop microwave ovens manufactured to be sold in the United States will be equipped with the UL923 Child-Resistant Door Lock function as a UL safety requirement.
UL923 requires two distinct actions to be taken to unlock the microwave door after a cooking cycle begins. The Child-Resistant Door Lock is prompted by the start of a cooking cycle. Once the cooking cycle is finished or paused, the unit will remain locked for a period of 30 minutes or until user presses the “UNLOCK” button. The specific “UNLOCK” button will vary by model. Users have the option to disable this function if they so choose, by following the steps below, or scanning the QR code located inside the unit at any time to access the disabling steps. Once disabled, the lock will remain disabled (including when power is lost from the unit) until it is manually re-enabled again.

To re-enable this feature, press “HELP/SETTINGS” -> “6” -> “START/TOUCH ON”.
- When disabled, “DOOR LOCK OFF” will be displayed.
- When re-enabled, “DOOR LOCK ON” will be displayed.
NOTE: Once disabled, this feature will remain disabled even after a power outage.
- If door lock is enabled and power to the unit is lost during a cooking cycle, the door will remain locked until power is restored.
